I’m Jay Bailey with Bailey & Galyen and I head our Probate & Estate Planning section.
I’m going to ask you today to consider not putting it off.
First of all don’t put off talking to your healthcare provider if you haven’t had a checkup in a long time, Haven’t had your teeth cleaned? Haven’t had your eyes checked? Haven’t done any estate planning?
Well if you can hear my voice it’s probably not too late to do some of that stuff.
On the other hand, if you’ve lost a loved one maybe you did some estate planning. You’re grieving and things have been difficult. It’s tough to move to the next place but don’t put off talking to a lawyer in the wake of that loss of that loved one.
At least once a month I have someone that calls me and says I guess it’s time for me to probate my late spouse’s will but unfortunately the 4 year statute of limitations has run since that loved one passed. And while there are some exceptions usually that means that the planning that was so carefully done doesn’t work.
Don’t put off doing estate planning and don’t allow your grief to have you ignore what needs to be done after losing a loved one. Pick up the phone and call. We’re here to help.
