I’m Jay Bailey, of Counsel with Bailey & Galyen.
I head our probate & estate planning section. And I’m wishing you and your family all the best as we walk through this pandemic together.
Many of you have lost jobs, some of you have lost loved ones, some of you are or your family members are first responders. You’re on the front lines of this battle, we’re are so appreciative of your perseverance and we’ve been able to help a large number of you as you contemplate estate planning. We’ve also come alongside you as you’ve had to say goodbye to a loved one and do some last final planning and then some probate.
One of the things that’s more difficult now is getting access to the courts. The courts are ramping up and doing a good job of trying to do Zoom hearings and other types of hearings. And we can do that for you if we need to do a probate proceeding. We are learning to be patient as we can’t do things quite as quickly as we could in the past.
The other is we’ve been inundated and been able to help hundreds and hundreds of people in the last few months with their estate planning. They have realized that this is a time to contemplate their mortality, the possibility that they might become disabled for a period of time and they’ve also walked with neighbors, friends and family through this difficult time.
If you call us we will try to recommend that we do our conferences telephonically or by video and that keeps you safe and keeps us safe. When we draft those documents and send them to you, you review them carefully and then we schedule an appointment for you to come into one of our offices and execute the documents. That’s in a safe and controlled environment and we’re able to bring you in by appointment, keep our distance, keep our masks on and allow you to get those documents taken care of, get some piece of mind, put them in a safe place and not have to worry about it.
If you need us for estate planning, to answer some of your questions, to probate a will or to give you advice after the loss of a loved one we’re here to help.
