If you have an active Texas worker’s comp claim, you can pick up with treatment in your new home state. The most difficult part will be finding a doctor that is willing to be your treating physician in your new state. I tell my clients that they should interview physicians to see if they are willing to help you get the treatment that you need under the Texas WC system. All you would need to do is to provide the new doctor with your adjuster’s information including the claim number. The carrier would still approve the treatment based on medical necessity, just like they would do in Texas. Your new doctor would need to be a bit proactive to ensure they are following the guidelines for treatment and payment.
If your case is in dispute, you may automatically attend your hearing via phone and need not worry about traveling back to attend hearings. You can still fight for your case, and don’t let it discourage you if you have to move.
It is always best to have a representative to assist you and your new doctor with the WC process, and to be here for you if you do have hearings. If you might be moving or you have moved, and you have an ongoing Texas WC claim, please give us a call today to discuss your specific situation.
